Reading for Workplace Success Graduates

The focus of this program is to provide a free workplace literacy and basic skills program to unemployed/underemployed adults with low reading skills.  The program targets improving  reading skills.  The Reading for Workplace Success  class includes one-on-one, small group, and computer instruction using the “Read On” software and the “News for You” magazine.

When students complete this program, they are referred to Adult Education for GED preparation.

Kershaw Basic Skills

The Kershaw Basic Skills program is funded by United Way of Lancaster County.

Lancaster County Literacy Council Mobile Bus

Mobile Bus

The focus of this program is to provide one-on-one tutoring and small group instruction for students  in need of improved basic math skills.  Classes are provided in a mobile bus; a school bus that was redesigned to function as a classroom.   It is equipped with laptop computers, a server, a printer, heat and air conditioning, and instructional materials.  The mobile bus is located in Kershaw at the Government Complex Center along with York Technical College and Adult Education.

Once students complete this program, they are referred to Adult Education for GED preparation.
